Lavender
Here are some gifs from one of my trips to France.
Theme: the distillation of
wild lavender (lavandula angustifolia), Provence , august 1995.
Some people asked me if wild harvesting was not an un-ecological
method (they believe it will destroy the beautiful herbs).
Nothing is more wrong! You need special authorisation to harvest herbs
in France. Secondly, a careful harvest of herbs, in a respectfull way while leaving
the possibility to the herbs to prosper is beneficial to the herbs!This distiller will never harvest all the existing lavender flowers but always leave some
flowers, in order to have seeds and thus enable new herbs to grow.It is a fact that in some countries everything has been robbed, but the people
I know harvest in an ecological way, for instance leaving some flowers of the lavender
on the plant, thus providing seeds and later new lavender plants.
